DO YOU LOVE FLY TYING? HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO SHARE YOUR FLIES WITH THE WORLD? HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO WRITE ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE PATTERNS IN FLY TYER MAGAZINE!
Fly Tyer magazine has always been home to the very best fly tying and fishing authors in the world. Over the years, Lefty Kreh, Gary Borger, Fishy Fullum, Dave Whitlock, Gary LaFontaine, Al Beatty, Hans van Klinken, and all of the greats have written for our magazine. Now you can join them.
We are planning our editorial schedule for 2017, and we want to make sure everyone has a crack at appearing in the pages of our magazine. We publish only four issues per year, and each issue contains only a dozen articles, so competition is keen, but you won’t get in unless you put some skin in the game. And Fly Tyer magazine is not closed to new writers: first-time authors have submitted some of the best articles that have generated the most discussions!
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for both feature- and column-length articles. An article can describe how to tie one fly (this type of article must be accompanied by high-quality fly tying photos), or a collection of flies to fish for a particular species of fish, during a certain season, or perhaps in a specific geographic area. We are also looking for articles about collections of flies to match the most important hatches or forms of bait. (If you wish to write about a collection of flies, you can provide the flies and we’ll take the photos for you.)
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Study recent issues of Fly Tyer magazine for ideas about the types of articles we publish. If you think you have a good idea for an article, contact our editorial offices at [email protected], and we will send you our complete author guidelines. Our guidelines will tell you everything you need to know to publish in our magazine. And, please pass this announcement on to anyone you think might be interested in writing for Fly Tyer.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
Good tying and fishing!
