Used mostly in salt water to imitate small bait fish and sand eels. Originally tied using epoxy. Now with UV Resins the fly is faster to tie with no waiting for it to dry.
The style was developed by American fly tier Bob Popovics in the 1970s for bluefish, tuna and striped bass on the Atlantic coast.
