Morris Emerger, Callibaetis Hook: Light-wire, 1X-long, curved-shank pupa hook, sizes 16 to 12. Thread: Tan 8/0 (70 denier), 6/0 (140 denier), or 3/0 (210 denier). Tail: Medium brown mottled hen saddle. Abdomen: A slim, mottled tan strip clipped from a turkey primary feather. Rib: Fine gold wire, counterwrapped over the abdomen. Thorax: Buoyant synthetic dubbing. Blend a small bunch of tan dubbing with a pinch of olive dubbing. Wing: Medium brown coastal deer hair. (Dark brown deer hair will also work.) The wing should form a fan similar to a Comparadun wing and tip forward at about a 45-degree angle. |
