Iced Chironomid Hook: Heavy wire, 1X-long curved-shank scud hook, sizes 10 and 8. Head: 1/8-inch black metal bead. Thread: 8/0 (70 denier) or 6/0 (140 denier), color to match the abdomen. Tail: White Antron yarn. Abdomen: Black, dark green, medium green, orange, or maroon Antron dubbing. Wrap a strip of clear Stretch Flex or Scud Back over the dubbing. Rib: Black, size A rod-wrapping thread. Thorax: Black or dark brown Arizona Sparkle Nymph Dubbing, or hare’s mask or squirrel dubbing. Wing case: A thin strip of clear Stretch Flex or Scud Back. Gills: White Antron yarn. |
