Hook: Daiichi 2051, size 3/0.
Thread: White 8/0 (70 denier) and black 8/0 70 denier).
Tag: Extra-fine silver oval tinsel and lilac floss.
Tail: A golden-pheasant crest feather and ippet fibers.
Butt: Black ostrich herl.
Body: Orange floss, and orange, red, and fiery rown SLF dubbing.
Rib: Medium silver oval tinsel.
Hackle: Lemon yellow schlappen.
Throat: Orange schlappen.
Wings: Golden-pheasant tippet feathers veiled with orange hen neck feathers.
Sides: Barred wood duck.
Cheeks: Kingfisher.
Topping: Golden-pheasant crest.
Horns: Blue-and-gold macaw.
Note: The author used red thread in the first tying steps for photo clarity. Traditionally, white or light yellow (primrose) thread was used up to the point in which the throat was tied to the fly. At this point, the light-colored
thread was tied off and black thread was started on the hook to complete the fly.
