Hook: Allcock blind eye, size 3/0. (You may use a modern salmon or wetfly
hook. To create an authentic-looking fly, select a hook that matches
the general shape of the hooks in the accompanying photographs.)
Thread: Tie the fly with white 6/0 (140 denier); complete the fly using
the white thread, or switch to red 8/0 (70 denier).
Loop: Silk gut.
Tag: Oval gold tinsel and red floss.
Eye: Twisted gut or monofilament.
Tail: Dyed red goose shoulder.
Body: Peacock herl and brown saddle hackle.
Wing: Cinnamon and dyed red turkey tail.
Hackle: Brown schlappen.
Head: Red Berlin wool.
