Tellico Nymph Hook: Nymph; here, the 2XL Daiichi model 1710; sizes 14 to 10. Thread: First, bright yellow Uni-Stretch bobbin-mounted, then black 8/0 Uni-Thread or similar. Tail: Strands of golden pheasant tippet. Shell: A narrow strip from a brown turkey feather, prepared as per the tying notes. Rib: A single narrow peacock herl, preferably taken from the longer- fronded side of a peacock sword feather. Underbody (optional): Fine weighting wire. Body: The bright yellow Uni-Stretch, or bright yellow floss, if you prefer. Hackle: Brown. Tying Note: Prepare the turkey strip ahead of time by saturating it with a flexible adhesive and allowing it to dry. Note that the components are listed in the order in which they are attached. Tie on the tail, then tie in the shell strip, followed by the peacock herl. If you’ve opted for weighting wire, cut short the butt ends of the components you’ve tied in thus far and abut them with the weighting wire. |
