White TDF Shrimp
Hook: TMC 800S, size 8. Thread: White 6/0 (140 denier). Antennae: Cream goat hair or imitation polar bear. Carapace: Cream Z-Lon. Butt: Pink dubbing. Eyes: Black monofilament eyes. Body: Cream leech dubbing or imitation seal dubbing. Legs: Extra fine pink Spanflex Tail: The butt ends of the carapace. Note: The To Die For (TDF) Shrimp was named for Belizean guide, Willie Dyer, who helped Craig develop the fly. It imitates the shrimp that inhabit the flats around Turneffe Island. Shrimp are a common food for bonefish and other flats fish. Sometimes a general pattern, such as a Crazy Charlie, is effective; at other times, such as when fishing to larger bonefish, a moreimitative fly is needed. The TDF Shrimp is an excellent choice. |
