Thread: Brown 6/0 (140 denier).
Tail: Fibers from a brown pheasant hackle; select a feather with dark tips.
Body: Fiery brown wet-fly dubbing. (Dick Winter uses a blend of burnt orange and dark brown dubbing.)
Rib: Fine gold wire.
Gills: Fiery brown marabou.
Wing case: A small brown or mottled hen saddle feather containing a pronounced centerline.
