Weighted Damselfly Hook: Curved-shank nymph hook, sizes 10 to 6. Thread: Brown or dark olive 6/0 (140 denier). Eyes: Micro lead eyes. Tail: Pheasant tail fibers. Abdomen: Small Liquid Lace or Stretch Tubing, color to match the natural insect. Thorax: Antron dubbing, color to match the natural insect. Wing case: A strip of turkey or pheasant tail feather, or your favorite wing-case material. Legs: Partridge hackle fibers. Note: Many tiers use monofilament dumbbell eyes on this type of pattern, but I prefer a tiny lead dumbbell. The weight helps sink the fly, and tying it to the tippet with a loop knot gives it a jigging action. |
