Tail appendage: Natural gray filoplume or very fine gray polypropylene yarn.
Weight: Lead wire or adhesive-back lead foil. Build up the weight slightly thicker in the center of the hook to create a slightly thicker underbody.

Thorax: Fine synthetic dubbing to match the color of the natural insect.
Rib: Clear or pale green, 3- or 4-pound-test monofilament.
Shellback: Thin strip cut from a clear surgical glove and colored with a permanent marker. (Thin Skin and Flexi Bodi are two substitutes you’ll find in your local friendly fly shop.)
Legs: Fibers stripped from a golden pheasant center tail feather. Color the legs with a black permanent marker before tying them to the fly.
